conceptuse-lessAfter my close study about the today’s world, the environment and human needs, I discovered some facts which caused concern to me.I found out, that over 80% of all things which are produced are going to be used just once or thrown away within a few weeks after buying. Also 20% of the industrialized world population is using 80% of the worlds recouces, while at the same time the riches of earth are disappearing steadily and the earth is reacting with climate change. This wastefull behaviour is neither fair nor wise. So I decided to do something about it. I realized that as a Designer I got a great position to influence this conditions, which are mainly caused by our consumer behaviour, because I got direct influence on consumer products and trends, which in turn got direct influence on this wastefull attitude. So my challange is to balance human lifestyles with the planet’s limits and influence design and consumption positively by raising awareness to this theme through a healthy and inspiring way which shows once more that the old wisdom “less is more” is not just a useless saying in our overflodded world. I try to create consumer products which are struggeling to compensate our consumption. It is about communication, information and motivation. My products should remind and educate people to be aware of our wasteful behaviour in our daily routines. I am not designing completely new stuff in order to make people familiar with the new challenge without taking them out of their old context and environment. I want to send out a little, subtile impulse, which builds up a consciousness towards this important theme and lead people to think about the issue and how their individual consumer choices and energy consumption play into the equation. use-lessuse-less |
